Mission
The purpose of the foundation is to promote technology that is adapted to people and the environment and to improve people's relationships with the environment. To this end, the foundation sets itself the following tasks in particular: It promotes the development and testing of technologies that are at the same time human-friendly, environmentally friendly, energy- and resource-saving. It promotes the study of sustainable systems and interpersonal relationships and their impact on the natural environment and the development of social, technological and economic models. The aim should be a diverse and holistic design of the various human and social areas of life that are in accordance with the requirements of the natural environment. In the sense of a combination of theoretical work and practical learning, it promotes the imparting of knowledge and skills for the production of adapted technologies together with the attempt to develop more holistic social and technological models that should lead to other ways of life and new attitudes towards the environment and people. It promotes the education of the population about what adapted technologies are, in which context they can be used and applied sensibly, and what consequences they have for the coexistence of people with each other and with the environment. Furthermore, it promotes advice for individuals, communities, craft businesses, companies, associations, etc. interested in such issues. To fulfil these tasks, the foundation establishes and runs a centre for adapted technology and social ecology, the Eco-Centre.
