Mission
The Bernina Initiative Foundation aims to support work and initiatives in Switzerland and abroad that contribute to the well-being of present and future generations and recognize the interconnectedness of all life. The foundation may support projects and initiatives that: promote the protection and restoration of the natural environment, preserve cultural and biological diversity, and counteract climate change; strengthen education, health, social cohesion, cultural creation, and human rights; and foster community welfare and equal opportunities for individuals. To fulfill its purpose, the foundation may provide financial support to projects and initiatives, particularly in the areas of the environment, social welfare, culture, and education. The foundation is a non-profit organization and does not pursue any commercial objectives. Within the scope of its purpose, the foundation is authorized to establish further foundations in Switzerland and to pursue joint projects with domestic and international institutions. It is also authorized to establish other domestic and international legal entities and to acquire and hold interests in other domestic and international legal entities. The founder reserves the right to amend the purpose in accordance with Art. 86a of the Swiss Civil Code, with the exception that the founder and any person closely related to him cannot become beneficiaries of the foundation.
