Mission
Education and science are the foundations of a free society. With our projects we promote access to and the effectiveness of knowledge.
We strengthen education, science and research. In this way we make an effective contribution to a self-determined life for individuals and the freedom of all. The focus of our operative foundation work lies in our three program areas of business, natural sciences and personal development. Small, innovative third-party projects are also supported in these three areas. In addition, the foundation supports research projects in the fields of medicine, law and engineering as well as projects in German-American exchange. The Joachim Herz Foundation was set up in 2008 and is one of the largest German foundations.
We support young people in developing their personal and professional skills and thus contribute to an efficient and tolerant community. Regardless of origin and social status, we want to promote individual educational and professional biographies.
Local, regional, national and international projects realize our demands on the promotion of education, science and research. The projects are characterized by the critical questioning of facts and the openness to other cultures, ways of thinking and working.
We see education as a task for society as a whole and develop projects for school and extracurricular areas, for universities and non-university promotion of young talent. The networking and further training of educational actors is a key to the positive design of educational transitions and biographies.
Our offers rely on the expertise of scientists and practitioners. We develop our materials and formats as an independent and politically neutral foundation.
We provide personal advice and individual support to support young people. We reach them via practical and digital approaches to education that do justice to the reality of young people's lives, their learning behavior and the respective technical content.
