The foundation pursues its purpose in two areas of activity: The first area encompasses the promotion, support, and recognition of creative, caregiving, and performing activities in the fields of music (e.g., the Lucerne Festival); visual arts; and literature. Funds are primarily intended for projects in Switzerland. Support for foreign projects is permitted only in exceptional cases, provided Swiss citizens are involved or another clear connection to Switzerland exists. The second area of activity encompasses the promotion and support of projects in the areas of improving the availability of places in retirement and nursing homes in the Canton of Lucerne; the care of children with disabilities in Switzerland; quality tourism in Switzerland; and scientific research and teaching (including the awarding of scholarships) in Switzerland in the fields of natural sciences and technology, particularly the promotion of innovative technologies. The humanities and social sciences, as well as medicine, psychology, psychiatry, and related auxiliary sciences, are excluded from funding and support.
