Mission
The Klaus Tschira Foundation has existed since 1995. The founder, managing director and administrator is Dr. h.c. Klaus Tschira. The foundation's assets amount to €21 million and come from shares in the software company SAP. The purpose of the foundation is to support scientific exchange and to improve the range of educational opportunities at German universities. The focus is on the following:
- Promotion of research in the field of computer science - Scholarships are awarded to electrical engineering students from Eastern Europe.
- **Knowledge transfer **- Prizes and competitions are donated here, and chemistry and physics laboratories are financed.
- Culture funding - Among other things, the Heidelberg Spring Music Festival is supported.
The Klaus Tschira Foundation is both operational and promotional. This means that the foundation realizes its own projects, but also awards grants after application and positive assessment. It has founded organizations as subsidiaries or holdings for the sustainable promotion of selected topics.
