Arthur Waser Stiftung

The foundation's purpose is twofold: firstly, to improve the living conditions of people in the Global South, primarily on the African continent (International Funding Area), and secondly, to support cultural and social endeavors in Central Switzerland (Central Switzerland Funding Area). The foundation's board of trustees specifies the foundation's purpose in a funding strategy and regulations. Within the International Funding Area, the foundation promotes the education of children and young people. To this end, it supports, in particular, Christian religious orders and, where applicable, other partner organizations in their educational activities. It may also support other activities and projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the population in general, always with a focus on local solutions to local problems. Within the Central Switzerland Funding Area, the foundation supports projects and institutions in the fields of arts & culture and social welfare with a connection to the cantons of Lucerne, Obwalden, Nidwalden, Schwyz, Uri, and Zug. In exceptional cases, funding may also be allocated to Swiss projects outside of Central Switzerland. The foundation's funding is generally to be distributed at least equally between the International Funding Area and the Central Switzerland Funding Area. Funding is generally provided to partner organizations, institutions, or projects, and only in exceptional cases to individuals. In exceptional cases, the foundation may also develop its own projects in both funding areas and implement them independently or with partners.

The Arthur Waser Foundation awards approximately one-third of its available funding in Central Switzerland. It supports voluntary, non-profit engagement in associations as well as professional organizations.

1. The Arthur Waser Foundation proactively supports selected institutions in Central Switzerland that, as beacons, significantly shape the arts and culture scene of Central Switzerland.

2. The Arthur Waser Foundation supports social institutions that occupy important niches that are not (or not sufficiently) funded by the government. Key areas of focus include disability, integration and reintegration, child and youth development, and addiction treatment and prevention.

3. The Arthur Waser Foundation supports grassroots sports in Central Switzerland. It primarily supports the extensive volunteer work in the numerous sports clubs.
