The purpose of the foundation is the preservation of art and cultural heritage relevant to Europe and, in particular, Switzerland. The foundation promotes its conservation and the exploration of its associated historical and cultural values. It contributes to communicating these values to the public. This goal is to be achieved, among other things: a. through the collection of art, cultural, and historical heritage, including folklore; b. through the granting of contributions to third parties who work in accordance with the foundation's mission; c. through the support of artists, emerging and established researchers, and through the support of conferences, publications, etc.; d. through the awarding of prizes in recognition of outstanding achievements in the areas of the foundation's objectives; e. through participation in and organization of exhibitions, primarily in Switzerland; f. through the preservation and maintenance of architectural, artistic, and cultural monuments. The foundation is a non-profit organization and does not operate for profit.
