Its purpose is to permanently maintain Victorinox AG, in Ibach, municipality of Schwyz, as an independent company on a solid basis, while upholding the company's existing purpose, by exercising shareholder rights in Victorinox AG in such a way as to ensure the company's prosperity in the best possible and long-term manner.

Die Victorinox-Unternehmensstiftung wurde im Oktober 2000 errichtet, um den Fortbestand und das weitere Gedeihen des Unternehmens zu sichern. Sie hielt zunächst 75 % des Aktienkapitals der Victorinox AG. Weitere 15 % waren im Besitz der gemeinnützigen Carl u. Elise Elsener-Gut Stiftung, die Familie Elsener selber besass noch 10 % der Aktien. Inzwischen gehören 90 % der Firmenanteile der Victorinox-Unternehmensstiftung und 10 % der Carl u. Elise Elsener-Gut Stiftung.
