The Austrian Animal Welfare Association is a pioneer and trailblazer in Austrian animal welfare. Founded in 1899 as the "Austrian Animal Protection and Animal Shelter Association," a group of courageous animal lovers championed the well-being of animals, thus making animal welfare possible on a broader scale in Austria for the first time. To this day, we work locally in Austria, together with people who value and cherish animals, to ensure that they can lead a species-appropriate and dignified life. We continue to be financed exclusively by private donations from our animal-loving supporters.
